Leading here is not the same as being ready

The best score in Miami yachting is 81/100. Even the leader is missing FAQ markup and product-level structured data — the two things engines quote most.

5 companies could not be scanned

These sites returned an error or refused automated requests on 2026-08-19. A server that turns crawlers away cannot be read by an answer engine either — though this can also be a temporary firewall response, so we flag them rather than score them.

Method

What the score measures — and what it does not

This is not a ranking of who gets cited most in ChatGPT. Nobody can measure that reliably from the outside. It scores technical readiness to be read, understood and cited — the groundwork without which no AI visibility is possible. Every point comes from a public element anyone can verify on the site itself.

30

Structured data

JSON-LD present, Organization or LocalBusiness, Product/Service, BreadcrumbList, FAQPage. This is how an engine knows who you are without guessing.

25

AI crawler access

A robots.txt, explicit mention of GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, OAI-SearchBot — and above all no blocking. A blocked crawler will never cite you.

20

Answer-ready pages

A useful 80–200 character meta description, exactly one H1, a 20–70 character title. A page that answers the question badly does not get quoted.

15

Machine-readable corpus

A real llms.txt — not a soft 404 — and a valid sitemap.xml. The first summarises your offer for assistants, the second gives them the map.

10

Technical base

HTTPS and Open Graph tags. The bare minimum, and not everyone has it.

Automated audit run on 2026-08-19 against each domain’s home page. A site may have changed since. If you represent a listed company and a result looks wrong, tell us — we re-audit and correct.

How to move up

The three fixes that pay off fastest

From this audit: 42 of 95 companies have no Organization schema, 93 have no FAQ markup, 69 have no llms.txt, and 6 actively block AI crawlers.

1

Declare who you are in JSON-LD

An Organization block with legal name, logo, Miami address, phone and sameAs profiles. Without it the engine infers your identity from loose text — and confuses you with another firm.

Half a day · up to 18 points

2

Answer real questions in FAQPage

“What does chartering a yacht in Miami cost per week?”, “What size fits eight guests?” Six to ten genuine questions, marked up as FAQPage. It is the format engines lift most willingly.

Two days · up to 12 points

3

Publish llms.txt, open robots.txt

An /llms.txt summarising fleet, ports, seasons and price bands, plus a robots.txt that names GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot as allowed.

Two hours · up to 15 points

Background

AI visibility, GEO, and why yachting is exposed

What AI visibility means

For twenty-five years the question was where do I rank. A buyer typed a query, got ten links, and clicked. Position was the whole game, and SEO existed to move a page up that list.

An answer engine does not return ten options. Ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity to recommend a yacht broker in Miami and you get a short answer naming two or three firms. There is no page two. Either the model names you or, as far as that buyer is concerned, you do not exist. AI visibility is whether you are one of the names it says.

What GEO is, and how it differs from SEO

GEO — Generative Engine Optimization — is the practice of making a business quotable by those engines. It overlaps with SEO on the plumbing: a page that cannot be crawled cannot be cited by anyone. It diverges sharply on everything else.

SEO optimises a page to compete for a position. GEO optimises an entity to compete for a mention. That shifts the work: instead of tuning a page for a keyword, you make unambiguous machine-readable claims about who the company is, what it sells, where it operates and what proof backs it. Structured data stops being a nice-to-have and becomes the primary channel, because it is the one part of your site a model does not have to interpret.

The second shift is format. Models quote text already shaped as an answer. A page that buries the price of a week-long charter in a PDF loses to a competitor who states it in a sentence under a question heading. That is why FAQPage markup carries so much weight in this index — and why 93 of 95 companies leaving it out is the single largest missed opportunity in the sector.

Why yachting is unusually exposed

Yacht charter and brokerage sit at the exact intersection where answer engines take over. The purchase is high-value, infrequent, and researched by people who do not know the vocabulary. They do not search 52m tri-deck charter Bahamas; they ask an assistant how much it costs to charter a yacht in Miami for a week with eight guests. That is a question, not a keyword, and an assistant answers it directly.

The industry also has thin, inconsistent entity data. Brokers change brokerage, firms merge, the same yacht is listed by six agencies. A model resolving who is a reputable Miami broker has to disambiguate a messy graph — and it favours the firms that made themselves easy to resolve. 42 of the 95 companies audited publish no Organization schema at all, which means the engine is inferring their identity from prose.

What the numbers here say

The sector average is 57/100. The leader reaches 81, leaving 19 points unclaimed. Nobody reaches 85. 6 companies actively block AI crawlers in robots.txt, which is the digital equivalent of locking the showroom door and wondering why nobody walks in.

Read one way that is a poor scorecard for an industry that sells to the wealthy. Read another way it is an open field: the fundamentals are cheap to fix, and almost nobody has fixed them yet.

FAQ

Questions about this index

What is AI visibility?

AI visibility is whether an answer engine such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity can find your business, understand what it sells, and name it in an answer. It replaces the old question of where you rank on a page of blue links, because an assistant returns one answer rather than ten options.

What does this ranking actually measure?

It measures technical readiness to be read and cited, scored from verifiable public signals: JSON-LD structured data, AI crawler permissions in robots.txt, a real llms.txt, a valid sitemap, and tag quality. It does not measure how often a brand is actually named inside ChatGPT, which cannot be measured reliably from outside.

Is a high score enough to be cited?

No, and the data shows why. Not one of the 95 companies audited reaches 85/100, and the leader still leaves 19 points unclaimed. A high score means the groundwork is in place so that content and proof can do their job. Without that groundwork nothing else works.

What is GEO, and how is it different from SEO?

SEO optimises to rank a page in a list of results. GEO, Generative Engine Optimization, optimises to be quoted inside a generated answer. SEO competes for a position, GEO competes for a mention. The techniques overlap on crawlability but diverge on structure: GEO depends far more on entity clarity, schema, and content shaped as direct answers.

How long does it take to improve a score?

The three fastest fixes are short. An Organization schema block takes about half a day and is worth up to 18 points. A FAQPage covering real client questions takes about two days and is worth up to 12. Publishing an llms.txt and opening robots.txt to AI crawlers takes about two hours and is worth up to 15.

My company is listed and the result looks wrong. What now?

Tell us and we will re-audit. The scan ran on 2026-08-19 against one public page per domain, so a site that changed after that date will show a stale result. Every point is traceable to a public element you can inspect yourself.
